The short answer
We cover two brands in this space, and they solve different problems. Wild & Stone is our stronger overall pick and the better all-round pick if you want to cut plastic across the house: bamboo toothbrushes for every age, compostable dish cloths, a dish brush with a replaceable head, and a small bamboo weaning range. Teal Meal is the narrower, budget pick if you only care about baby feeding and want the lowest prices on silicone plates, bowls, cups and pacifiers.

Ranking the brands
1. Wild & Stone: Best overall for eco-friendly living
Wild & Stone is a UK shop with a compact, focused catalog built around everyday plastic swaps. Adult bamboo toothbrush 4-packs cost £7.99, children's 4-packs £5.99, and baby brushes £3.50 each. In the kitchen, the Wooden Dish Brush is £6.50 and replacement heads are £4, which is the kind of design that actually reduces waste because you keep the handle. The Compostable Swedish Dish Cloths come four to a set for £7.49 and can be washed at up to 90 C.
Its policies are the stronger of the two. Orders placed before 12pm are processed the same working day, UK delivery runs from Super Saver (3 to 7 working days) to DPD next working day, and UK orders over £30 ship free. Returns are accepted within 30 calendar days if items are undamaged, and faulty or wrong items get an exchange or full refund.
The weak spots: the catalog is small, the return policy doesn't say who pays return postage, and shipping outside the UK costs £8.50 to Europe and £12.50 elsewhere, which can be more than a basket of toothbrushes. If you live outside the UK and only want one or two items, the math rarely works.
2. Teal Meal: Best value for baby feeding
Teal Meal sells silicone baby feeding gear and soothers at prices well below most baby brands. Most single items cost $6 to $9: the Half Moon Silicone Bowl is $7.50, the Kids Silicone Cup $7.79, and the Silicone Sun Plate Set about $8.99. The standout is its four age-based kits at $25.79 each, covering 0 to 3, 3 to 6, 6 to 9 and 9 to 12 months. For a first-time parent who doesn't know what a 7-month-old needs at the table, the Baby-Led Weaning Starter Kit removes the guesswork.
The site describes its silicone as 100% food grade and free of BPA, phthalates and lead, and says the products are dishwasher and microwave safe. That makes daily cleanup easier than bamboo.
The catch is returns. When we checked, 67 of 72 products were on sale, and the policy says sale items can't be returned. Shipping costs and delivery times aren't published, and email is the only contact method. Some compare-at prices are also inflated (the Half Moon Bowl shows $7.50 against $42), so judge it on the price you pay, not the discount shown.
Silicone or bamboo: which baby tableware should you buy?
This is the real decision for most parents comparing these two brands, and it comes down to cleaning and sterilizing.
Silicone (Teal Meal). Soft, unbreakable, and in Teal Meal's case top-rack dishwasher and microwave safe. Suction plates and bowls grip smooth high chair trays well. The downsides are that silicone can hold onto smells from strong foods over time, and suction fails on textured trays no matter the brand.
Bamboo with a silicone base (Wild & Stone). Wild & Stone's weaning plate and bowl use FSC certified Moso bamboo with a removable BPA-free silicone suction base. They look less plastic-like and fit a plastic-free home. But the listings say they are hand wash only, not dishwasher or microwave safe, and cannot be boiled or steam sterilized. If you sterilize everything in the first months, that's a hard limit.
A widely known tip when shopping bamboo tableware from any seller: check that the listing says solid bamboo rather than a bamboo and plastic composite. The EU has restricted bamboo-melamine composites for food contact, so a clear materials description is worth looking for. Wild & Stone's listings name FSC bamboo and BPA-free silicone.
What to look for in eco-friendly baby and home products
- Material clarity. Good listings name the material and certification: FSC for wood and bamboo, GOTS for organic cotton, food grade for silicone. Both brands do this reasonably well.
- Care instructions that match your routine. Dishwasher-safe matters more than most parents expect. If you won't hand wash three times a day, pick silicone.
- Suction that releases. Teal Meal's Sun Plate has a quick-release tab. Wild & Stone's base is removable so you can drop it once your baby stops throwing plates.
- Real capacity. Teal Meal's cups hold 4 oz and the Sun Plate holds 7 oz. That's right for babies and young toddlers but small for a hungry 2-year-old.
- End-of-life plan. Wild & Stone's toilet brush, dish brush and cloths can go in home compost (remove the metal clip on the dish brush first). Bamboo toothbrush bristles need to be pulled out before the handle is composted.
- Return terms. Check whether the item is returnable before you buy. At Teal Meal, assume sale items are final.
Who should buy from which brand
- You're starting solids and want everything in one box: Teal Meal's 6 to 9 month kit at $25.79.
- You want a sippy that becomes an open cup: Teal Meal's 4 oz Silicone Sippy Cup. Note that the standalone top page calls it spill-resistant, not sealed.
- You're in the UK and switching the household to plastic-free basics: Wild & Stone. Build a £30 basket with toothbrush 4-packs and cloths to get free delivery.
- You want a weaning plate that doesn't look like plastic and you're fine washing by hand: Wild & Stone's Over The Rainbow plate set at £12.95.
- You need easy returns: Wild & Stone, with the caveat to ask via chat who covers return postage.
- You're buying a baby shower gift under $30: Teal Meal's Ultimate Soothing Kit for 0 to 3 months.
Bottom line
Neither brand is a premium name, and neither claims to be. Wild & Stone earns the top spot because its policies are clearer, its swaps are practical across the whole home, and its baby range is a thoughtful extension of that. Teal Meal wins on price and convenience for feeding gear, as long as you accept that most purchases are final. Plenty of families will reasonably buy from both: silicone from Teal Meal for daily meals, and bamboo brushes and cloths from Wild & Stone for the rest of the house.
Safety applies to both: supervise babies at every meal, and inspect pacifiers, teethers and toothbrushes before each use, replacing them at the first sign of wear.
