About beauty & personal care brands
Beauty is personal and mostly non-returnable once opened, which makes it a category where research before checkout pays off. Skin and scalp reactions are common enough that patch testing should be routine, contact lenses are medical devices that need a prescription even when purely cosmetic, and many of the best-value brands ship from Asia or Australia with delivery measured in weeks.
The brands we cover are value-focused specialists. EyeCandys has a deep range of Korean color and circle lenses, including toric options. Venalisa and CANNI sell low-cost gel polish and salon-size builder gels shipped from Asia. Botanical Cabana makes an affordable wash-day routine for textured and curly hair, and LAMAV covers Australian certified organic skincare.
Return windows across this category are short (as little as 10 working days), and opened products are almost always excluded, so start with a single product or discovery set.
How to shop for beauty and personal care online
Patch test, then commit. Apply new skincare, hair oils and lash adhesives to a small area for 24 to 48 hours before full use. Introduce one product at a time. Because opened items are rarely refundable, a reaction usually means a lost purchase, and LAMAV gives only credit or exchange even for reactions.
Contacts need a prescription. In the US, all contact lenses, including plano colored lenses, require a prescription and fitting. Choose diameter with your eye doctor, follow replacement schedules, and allow extra time for toric lenses, which are made to order. Our Lashes & Colored Contacts page covers diameter, opacity and cosplay lens safety.
Gel nails: lamp and technique. Match the gel to a lamp of sufficient wattage and wavelength, cure every thin layer fully, and keep uncured gel off skin to reduce allergy risk. HEMA-free formulas lower but do not remove that risk. See Nail Care & Gel Polish.
Read ingredients and certifications. "Clean" and "natural" are unregulated; certified organic (ACO, USDA) is meaningful. Fragrance and essential oils are common irritants. For hair, match products to porosity and curl pattern, and be skeptical of oils marketed to regrow hair. Our Hair Care guide covers porosity and oil claims.
Fragrance concentration and authenticity. EDP generally lasts longer than EDT. Inspired-by scents are legal; counterfeits copying a designer's name and bottle are not.
Return windows and fees. EyeCandys allows only unopened items within 10 working days with an $8 restocking fee. True Beauty Lashes charges $5.95 on every return. CocoBeauty charges a $10 restocking fee plus shipping on change-of-mind returns. Venalisa gives 14 days for sealed items. Apparel Candy requires a return request within 3 days. Botanical Cabana is the notable exception, accepting gently used items within 30 days.
Shipping times. Gel polish from Hong Kong or China takes roughly 15 to 45 days. EyeCandys regular shipping runs 15 to 20 working days. Australian brands take 7 to 28 business days internationally.
Budget tiers. Strip lashes, single gels and masks cost under $20. Colored lens pairs, hair routines and serums run $20 to $60. Skincare sets and gift hampers go higher.
