This is not a list of the biggest skincare names. It covers three smaller direct-to-consumer brands we have researched in detail: an Australian certified-organic line, a California coconut-oil body care and gifting brand, and a Korean-formulated patch and serum brand. All three land in the mid 6s on our scale, which means each is worth buying for a specific need and none is a do-everything pick. The differences that matter most are what each brand is actually good at and how forgiving its return policy is, since skincare is the category where a reaction can leave you with a product you cannot use.
Our ranking at a glance
| Rank | Brand | Score | Best for | Typical price | Returns |

| 3 | CocoBeauty | 6.3 | K-beauty collagen patches and masks on sale | Mostly $25 to $40 on sale | 30 days, $10 restocking fee on change-of-mind |
1. LAMAV: best overall for face care
LAMAV is an Australian brand selling certified organic, vegan and cruelty-free skincare, plus mineral makeup, self-tan and Ayurvedic body oils. It ranks first because its listings name the active ingredients and their strengths more often than the other two brands do. The Bakuchiol serum, for example, states 4% bakuchiol and starts at A$18 for a sample size.
Why it stands out:
- Discovery packs make testing cheap. Hydration, Age-Defence and Brightening packs each cost A$59 for four products (a 50 ml cleanser plus small sizes of a serum, day cream and night cream), roughly a month's trial.
- Several serums and masks cost under A$20.
- Free shipping in Australia and New Zealand over A$69.50, and internationally over A$195.
The catch: LAMAV does not accept change-of-mind returns. Even if a product causes a reaction, you get store credit or an exchange, not a refund, and you must email within 14 days and pay return shipping. International delivery takes 7 to 28 business days and may add import fees. Start with a discovery pack and patch test before committing to full sizes.
2. Organic to Green: best for body care and gifts
Organic to Green is a Santa Monica spa brand built around liquid coconut oils, mild body washes and curated gift sets. It has the friendliest return policy of the three: a full refund on new or unused items within 30 days of delivery, with return shipping waived on defective or wrong items.
Where it fits:
- Everyday body care is affordable. The Rain Wellness Collection body wash is $16, a coconut-based soap gel the brand says is gentle enough for babies through mature skin.
- The signature coconut oils come in scented duos, such as lemon and vanilla chamomile 5oz bottles for $50.
- Gift sets range from a $38 travel bundle to $348 luxury kits.
The catch: The bigger gift sets are expensive for what is inside, often padded with accessories like masks and combs, and many listings skip item sizes. Several products contain citrus or lavender oils, which can bother sensitive skin. Clearance items discounted 30% or more are final sale, and we found no published shipping policy.
3. CocoBeauty: best for collagen patches on sale
CocoBeauty sells Korean-formulated collagen masks, firming patches and serums, and nearly everything is marked down most of the time. The Bio-Collagen Eye Patches at $24.99 for six pairs are the cheapest way to try its core format.
The catch: Change-of-mind returns carry a $10 restocking fee plus return shipping, and opened items do not qualify. The catalog has duplicate listings for the same product at different prices (the NAD+ EGF serum appears at both $59 and $69), compare-at prices are inflated, and many listings omit size and full ingredients. Results from patches, such as reduced puffiness, are usually temporary. Buy during a sale, from the cheaper duplicate listing.
How to choose skincare from any brand
Start with your skin's main problem. Dryness calls for humectants like hyaluronic acid and a richer night cream. Dullness or uneven tone points to vitamin C or gentle acids. Fine lines are where retinoids, or the gentler plant alternative bakuchiol, come in. Oily or acne-prone skin often does well with exfoliating acids and lighter textures.
Look for named actives and strengths. "With vitamin C" tells you little. A listing that states the percentage, like LAMAV's 4% bakuchiol, lets you compare.
Know which ingredients need sunscreen. AHAs, retinol and some brightening acids increase sun sensitivity. Use daily SPF when using them.
Be careful during pregnancy. Retinol is generally not recommended during pregnancy, and some essential oils are worth checking with a doctor or midwife.
"Organic" means different things. Look for a named certifier. Even certified products can contain a small share of organic-farmed ingredients: one COSMOS Natural palette we reviewed lists 92% natural-origin ingredients but only 3% from organic farming.
Patch test anything new. Apply a small amount behind the ear or on the inner arm for a day or two before using it on your face.
Read the return policy before buying a full routine. With these three brands, only Organic to Green refunds unused items without conditions. For the others, buy small first.
The bottom line
For face care with clear ingredients, start with a LAMAV discovery pack. For gentle body care or a spa gift, Organic to Green offers the most forgiving returns. For K-beauty patches, CocoBeauty is fine at sale prices if you accept that returns cost you $10 plus postage.
