How We Research Brands

Every brand on Scouted Brands gets the same research before we write about it. It is desk research, not a lab test, and here is exactly what goes into it.

The five things we check

  1. Value for money. Live prices from the brand's own store compared with similar brands we cover, how often items are discounted, and whether pricing is clear before checkout.
  2. Shipping & returns. What the published policies actually promise: return window, who pays return shipping, free-shipping thresholds, stated delivery times, and warranty length.
  3. Product range. How much the brand really sells, how well the range covers what most buyers need, and how much is in stock right now.
  4. Reputation. Public signals about how the brand treats customers: how established the store is, how much real traffic it gets, and red flags such as missing contact details.
  5. Transparency. Whether the brand publishes real contact information, clear policies, product specifications and honest pricing.

What earns a Scouted pick

Brands that come out strong across all five areas carry a ★ Scouted pick badge. Every brand page also lists what shoppers like and what's good to know before ordering, so you can decide for yourself.

Where the evidence comes from

  • The brand's own store: product catalog, prices, sale pricing, and stock, refreshed throughout the day.
  • The brand's published policies: shipping, returns, refunds, and warranty pages.
  • Public signals: site popularity data and other publicly available information.

What we don't do

  • We don't claim to have tested products we haven't used. Our reviews are research-based, and we say so.
  • We don't invent customer reviews or star ratings.
  • We don't sell placement. Affiliate commissions never decide which brands earn a Scouted pick or what we write.

When things change

We re-check brands regularly. If a policy changes, prices move, or a red flag appears, we update the page and its date.
