How we ranked these brands
Collectors rarely want "a collectible." They want a specific thing: a brick-built WWII tank, an officially licensed Aston Martin, a dueling lightsaber they can customize. So instead of forcing three very different stores into one league table, we ranked them on our brand reviews and then labeled each by the collector it serves best. The reviews weigh value, policies, selection, reputation and transparency. The three finished close together, so the order reflects small differences in warranty and policy strength. None of these rankings involve hands-on testing; they are built from each store's catalog, listings and published policies.
| Rank | Brand | Best for | Typical price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | VF Sabers | Dueling lightsabers and custom hilt builds | Complete sabers from about $133; parts $10 to $55 |
| 2 | Afobrick | Large adult brick sets for the money | Median $53.90; $8.75 to $306.90 |
| 3 | The 007Store | Official James Bond collectibles and gifts | Median £30; £9 to over £5,000 |
1. VF Sabers: best for lightsaber fans who want to duel or build
VF Sabers grew out of a fan YouTube community (the brand says its Vader's Fortress channels have more than 390,000 subscribers) and sells 104 complete sabers plus a build-a-saber parts range: 22 grips, 21 emitters, 14 pommels, 8 couplers and 4 switches. All build parts share one thread spec, so you can mix and match a hilt piece by piece.
Why it ranks first: the 365-day warranty covers dueling damage, which is unusual in a hobby where blades and hilts take real hits. It only excludes obvious repeated deliberate damage and files you wipe from Proffie or GHv3 boards yourself. The FAQ also explains blade tech clearly: base lit (light shines from the hilt), Smooth Swing (motion-reactive sound), EcoPixel or Xenopixel (an LED strip up the full blade), and Proffie V2.2 boards where you load your own sound fonts.
Watch out for: delivery of 7 to 20 working days, with a 6-week worst case in the policy. Support is a Gmail address only, and some part listings reuse the same description, so check photos. If you are building a double-bladed staff, you need both halves of a coupler: the quick-release pair costs $40, the standard Coupler 04 pair $20.
2. Afobrick: best value for big adult brick builds
Afobrick sells about 1,816 sets from third-party brick brands (12GO, Pantasy, Lumibricks, TK2, Quanguan, Bole Brick and others), not from the big-name toy makers. Its listings are consistent and useful, giving set number, piece count, finished size and recommended age on each.
Why it ranks high: price per piece and subject matter. The 12GO Leopard 1 tank is 1,862 pieces for $53.90, under 3 cents a piece. The 4,269-piece USS Enterprise CV-6 at 1:300 scale is $163.90 and about 82.7 cm long. Military vehicles and warships are themes the major brands mostly avoid, and Pantasy and Lumibricks fill the modular street-building niche (the 2,892-piece Italian Street Corner is $148.50).
Watch out for: everything ships from China, with free tracked delivery quoted at 10 to 15 days to the US. Most sets ship without the original retail box unless you pay extra. Checkout is PayPal only. Change-of-mind returns must be unopened, and shipping damage has to be reported within 48 hours. Some listings also mismatch set numbers between handle and title (for example 97027 vs 95027), so confirm the number before ordering.
3. The 007Store: best for official James Bond collectibles
The 007Store bills itself as the official home of James Bond merchandise, with 742 products priced in British pounds and shown in local currency for many countries. Its strength is partner-made pieces: Corgi and MINI GT model cars, Royal Doulton figurines, Charbonnel et Walker chocolate, and Casino Royale 20th anniversary luggage and leather from Globe-Trotter. Listings include a "Backstory" tying each item to a film or scene, and several pieces are numbered or limited.
Who it suits: Bond fans and gift buyers at almost any budget. A 1:64 MINI GT Aston Martin DBS from No Time To Die is £19. Corgi's three-car DB5 70th anniversary collector set is £99.99. The Globe-Trotter carry-on trolley cases run £2,795 to £2,895.
Why it ranks third: we could not access the shipping and refund policy text, so terms are unconfirmed, and contact details were not visible in the pages we reviewed. Nothing is on sale. Some items are UK only or ship separately from partners, and pre-orders can take months (one Corgi DBS edition is listed for January 2027). Read the policy pages on the site before a big order.
How to choose between them
Decide what kind of collector you are.
- Builder: you want the evening of building as much as the finished piece. Afobrick, and VF Sabers if you want to assemble a custom hilt.
- Display collector: you want authenticity, licensing and a box worth keeping. The 007Store, where partner names and limited editions matter. Note that Afobrick's sets usually come without a retail box.
- User: you want to swing it, spar with it or carry it. VF Sabers, because of the dueling warranty.
Check what "official" means. The 007Store's products are licensed Bond merchandise from named partners. Afobrick's sets are from third-party brick brands, and the listings do not state licensing or compatibility with other brands' bricks. That matters for resale value and for mixing with an existing collection.
Plan for shelf space and wait times. A 1:300 carrier over 80 cm long needs a real display spot. Two of these three stores ship from abroad, so order gifts four to six weeks early.
Do the true-cost math. An Afobrick set's sticker price includes free shipping, but duties or VAT outside the US are on you. A VF Sabers custom hilt costs the sum of a grip, emitter, pommel and switch, which at $14 to $55 a part can approach the price of a complete saber.
Bottom line
For a saber you will actually use, VF Sabers' warranty sets it apart. For the most model per dollar, Afobrick's large military and modular sets are hard to match if you can wait two weeks and do not need a box. For an authentic Bond piece, the 007Store is the source, but confirm its shipping and returns before spending heavily.
