HOTO review 2026

HOTO is a strong choice for apartment dwellers, hobbyists, and gift buyers who want compact, good-looking cordless tools for light repairs, crafts, and electronics. Skip it if you need contractor-grade power or plan to use tools commercially, which the warranty excludes. Check whether your US state or territory is on the no-ship list before you order.

About HOTO

HOTO makes compact, design-focused tools for home repair, crafting, cleaning, and electronics tinkering. According to its about page, the company was founded in 2016, launched a precision screwdriver set in 2018, and has offices in Shanghai, the US, Japan, and Hong Kong. The brand says it has collected more than 60 design awards, including Red Dot and iF honors. The look is a big part of the pitch: clean shapes, muted colors, and tools meant to sit on a shelf rather than hide in a garage drawer. ### The catalog

The store carries 52 products with a median price of $64.99. Entry items include the Box Cutter and glue sticks at $9.99 and the Self-Lock Measure Tape at $12.99. The middle of the range is where most people will shop: the Electric Precision Screwdriver ADV ($49.99), the Hand Tool Set ($49.99), the Grip Cordless Spin Scrubber ($59.99), and the Laser Measure PRO ($69.99). Bigger tools include the HOTO 16V Brushless Drill ($99.99), the 16V Brushless Drill Tool Kit ($169.99), the Laser Level 3x360 ($149.99), and the 20V Cordless Leaf Blower ($189.99, marked down from $239.99). The SNAPBLOQ line is the most distinctive. It is a modular system built around a shared power base, with add-on modules like the R-A04 Electric Mini Rotary Tool Kit, the D-A03 Electric Mini Drill Set, and a cordless soldering iron, each $99.99. The full SNAPBLOQ system is $239.99, down from $299.99. Replacement parts such as scrubber heads, vacuum filters, and EdgeFlow blades are stocked at $9.99 to $19.99, which matters for anyone who wants to keep a tool running for years. ### How it compares

HOTO's tools are priced above generic Amazon kits and below pro brands like DeWalt or Milwaukee. You pay a bit extra for design and compact size, and the specs are aimed at household jobs (the 16V drill lists up to 50 N·m of torque). For heavy framing or all-day job site use, a pro platform makes more sense. ### Shipping, returns, and warranty

Orders over $49 ship free; the FAQ lists a $6.99 fee below that. The shipping policy says US orders from local warehouses arrive in an estimated 2 to 7 business days, and HOTO does not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, PO boxes, or military addresses (the policy also lists Rhode Island). Returns are accepted within 30 days on unused items in original packaging. The store does not issue return labels, and you pay return shipping unless the item is defective or wrong. Every tool carries a one-year limited warranty covering hardware defects, with repair or replacement at no charge, though commercial use and wear parts like drill bits and brush heads are excluded. Support is reachable by email or by phone on weekdays.

What stands out

  • SNAPBLOQ modular system. One power base with swappable drill, rotary, screwdriver, and soldering modules.
  • Award-winning design. The brand cites more than 60 design awards, including Red Dot and iF.
  • Replacement parts in stock. Scrubber heads, filters, and blades from $9.99 keep tools usable longer.
  • Global warehouses. Stock ships from the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia.

Tips before you buy

  1. Pair a main tool with its replacement heads or filters to clear the $49 free shipping threshold.
  2. Choose the 16V Brushless Drill Tool Kit over the bare drill if you are starting from zero; it bundles essentials for move-in repairs.
  3. For electronics repair, compare the $49.99 Precision Screwdriver ADV and the $79.99 Kit Pro; the Pro adds a clamshell workstation case.
  4. Keep the original box and receipt, since warranty claims require proof of purchase and protective packaging.
  5. Email to cancel right away if you change your mind; orders process within about 24 hours.
