About Venatos

Venatos is a gaming peripheral brand based in Ottawa, Ontario. Its FAQ describes the goal as building a Canadian premium gaming peripheral brand with products not available elsewhere. The contact page lists a business address, a phone number, and an email, which is more than many small gear brands publish. The catalog is small, at 19 products, and centers on keyboards, a mouse, keycaps, switches, and mouse pads.

Keyboards and switches

The Venatos Northern Glow Hot Swappable Optical Keyboard is the flagship at $169. It uses optical switches you can swap without soldering, and the store sells matching switch packs like Orange Clicky Optical Switches (106 pack, $30 on sale from $59) and Red Linear Quiet Optical Switches (90 pack, $49). The VEN Mini is a wireless 61-key 3-pin hot-swappable mechanical keyboard, listed with Gateron switches, at $99 on sale (from $129) in blue and white, pink and white, and black, while the purple and blue version is $129. Backlit double-shot PBT keycap sets, including White Pudding ($40) and Cyan ($35), let RGB lighting show through.

Mouse and desk mats

The Venatos Swapper Pro Fully Customizable Gaming Mouse is $59 (from $79) and comes with three honeycomb swappable parts: a top cover and two sides. XXL desk mats measure 35.4 x 15.7 inches and cost $35 in black or white, or $39 for the White RGB Wave version. The FAQ mentions a wireless charging mouse pad and notes that plugging into a wall adapter improves charging speed, though that product isn't in the top listings we reviewed.

Deals and open-box items

More than half the catalog (11 of 19 items) is discounted. The best value is the bundle of the full-size Northern Glow and the Swapper Pro for $139, versus $248 at list price. Open-box units, which the store says are discounted because of opened, damaged, or missing packaging, include the Northern Glow at $99 and the Swapper Pro at $32.

Shipping and returns

The FAQ says shipping is free to Canada and the US, with international rates starting at $10. Orders are typically processed in 2 to 3 business days and shipped within 7 business days. The return policy allows returns within 30 days of purchase for unused items in original packaging with proof of purchase. You pay return postage, and return shipping costs are deducted from refunds. Importantly, only regular-priced items can be refunded, so anything bought on sale is effectively final, and exchanges are only for defective or damaged items. No warranty terms are published. Several product listings still carry pre-order labels and 2021 release dates, so confirm stock status before ordering.
